Water Taxis Tel. 0777 810 5297. The taxis are available in the evenings after the day ferry stops. An ideal means of transport for an evening in Padstow. The water taxi is no more than a 5 minute crossing. Journey by car takes about 45 minutes.

PLACES TO VISIT

Polzeath A favourite walk from Rock. A good place to start this walk is from Daymer Bay car park. This is a magical walk, across the golf course and beyond. The views are fantastic and St. Enodoc Church situated by the 10th tee is REALLY worth a visit. The story handed down over the years is that the church was only discovered when a passer by tripped over the tip of the church spire. Until that time the Church had been covered in sand. The grave of John Benjamin is just outside the Church.

You can also walk from Rock to Polzeath along the sand and cliffs. Or you carry on to Port Isaac and Port Gaverne for super food and breath taking views.

Port Isaac Detailed on a separate page. Well worth a visit.

St. Kew Consists of only a few houses and a small Church. Highly recommended.

Pentire Point Stepper Point, The Rumps and all the adjacent coves and beaches are well worth a visit and a provide a lovely walk.

Daymer Bay between Polzeath and Rock. This is a perfect family beach, lots or space, cliffs, rock pools and a great stretch of lovely golden sand.

Wadebridge is the nearest reasonable size town and is well worth a visit.. Wadebridge has one of the best kitchen shops ever! Wadebridge also marks the halfway point on the lovely Camel Trail cycle route. Wadebridge Website

Trelawney Garden Centre A great garden centre with a variety of lovely plants and gifts for sale.

The Eden Project About 35 minutes away. You cannot visit Cornwall without a visit to the Eden Project! Eden Project

There are many more pretty bays and lovely places to visit.

ACTIVITES

So many sporting facilities are available both in Rock and Padstow. Sailing, golf, fishing and surfing are to name but a few. Polzeath is recommended for surfing.

RESTAURANTS

Rick Stein has a variety of restaurants in Padstow. Some are VERY expensive and others are affordable.

Rick Stein’s Sea Food Restaurant  Very expensive.  Obviously very popular as we have been informed that you need to book three months in advance!

Rick Stein’s Bistro Restaurant  A superb restaurant at a more realistic price!

Rick Stein’s Fish and Chip Shop   Situated on the quay by the fishing boats – lovely!  Take your supper away or enjoy the location.

Rick Stein's Website with restaurants and hotels Website

There are a number of other restaurants and pubs around the harbour.

PLACES TO VISIT

 As above for Rock

ACTIVITIES

As above for Rock.  However, in addition, we would recommend Cycling on the Camel Trail.  Padstow – Wadebridge. (the entire route runs from Bodmin to Padstow)  Access from the main car park at Padstow.  What’s good about this cycle track is that is level!   Bicycles can be hired either from Padstow or Wadebridge.  The ride should take about half an hour each way and runs  along the edge of the estuary with the most spectacular scenery. Padstow to Wadebridge 5 miles. Wadebridge to Bodmin 5.8 miles and Bodmin to Poley's Bridge 6.5 miles.  Highly recommended.  Cycling on the Camel Trail - 6 recommndations. Cycle Hire

GOLF COURSES

Information as above

Trevose   Website    Trevose has two popular golf courses.  A nine hole and 18 hole golf course.  Trevose is always popular and  good accommodation is provided in the Dormy flats.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND ADVICE

Dogs are not allowed on all the beaches in summer. We think they are welcome on Rock beach, but not Polzeath and possibly not Daymer Bay. From Autumn to Easter dogs are allowed on the beaches.

The walks around Rock are all wonderful. Make sure you get a local Ordnance Survey map for these great walks.

Access to Rock is very much improved with good road routes from M5 and M4 and then A30/A39.
